Redbourn is a beautiful village in the centre of Harpenden & Berkhamsted surrounded by countryside, with infrastructure that is already stretched. Yet top-down planning and government policies have given developers the green light and leave Redbourn exposed to an increase of up to 70%.
That’s why Victoria Collins MP wants to take the issue to the government.
Commenting, Victoria Collins MP for Harpenden & Berkhamsted said: "Redbourn residents feel powerless as their village is carved up by developers exploiting a broken planning system. These aren't local decisions, they're being imposed from Westminster by targets that ignore our infrastructure, our Green Belt, and our community's voice. The national policy needs urgent reform to give villages like ours real protection and real power over our own futures.”

Petition to Parliament
Victoria wants to present this petition to Parliament and ensure Redbourn’s residents are heard. These presentation petitions have a specific wording - you can see ours below.
Declares that Redbourn village faces large-scale development proposals driven by national planning law pushing development onto green and grey-belt land; further declares that government policy is having a detrimental impact on Redbourn’s village’s character and environment.
The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons schedule a debate in the House to discuss the Government review of the National Planning Policy Framework to protect villages like Redbourn, and to give local communities and councils real power over planning decisions and infrastructure that affect their lives.
