Westfield School SEND plans

Local children with special educational needs and disabilities will soon have access to more specialist support closer to home, as Westfield Primary School welcomed Victoria Collins, MP for Harpenden and Berkhamsted to tour the a new SEND facility being constructed, which will open later this year. 

The new facility will support up to 12 pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), providing a structured environment for children with social, emotional and mental health needs while helping them build the skills and confidence to thrive.

During the visit, Victoria met with Headteacher Emma Leach and Deputy Headteacher and SENDCo Rhiannon Slater to discuss the school's vision for the unit, the growing demand for specialist places and the importance of delivering high-quality SEND support for local families.

“It's clear how much thought, care and dedication has gone into designing a provision that puts every child at the heart of its approach. This new facility will transform support for local pupils 

"Too many families face long waits and a postcode lottery when trying to access SEND support. Projects like this show what's possible when schools are given the opportunity to meet local need.”
